Build a roller coaster, make a lava lamp, become a wildlife detective -  all in one night

Ricky the RobotBuild a roller coaster. Make a lava lamp. Become a wildlife detective. Schoharie and Duanesburg students in grades 4-8 can do all that and more at the fifth annual STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) Fun Night at Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School on Friday, Feb. 10.

The Schoharie High School math and science departments will present the event, which will run from 3-5 p.m., and pizza will be provided by the Schoharie Teachers Association.

During STEAM Fun Night, students take part in three of five activities they've chosen from more than 20 fun and creative offerings such as treating fractures, LEGO robotics, building a roller coaster, making a lava lamp, hands-on woodshop, science magic, slimy measurement, nanotechnology, programming and coding, and even being a wildlife detective.

STEAM is for students of all ages: Schoharie High School Key Club members and other high school students will be volunteering to help make STEAM Fun Night a success.

A full listing can be viewed by downloading the event program (PDF).

Information and the required permission form can be downloaded here (PDF).

At the conclusion of STEAM Fun Night, parents/guardians may pick up their children in front of the Schoharie High School cafeteria between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m.

Information about STEAM Fun Night is being sent home with students and many are signing up for the much-anticipated annual event. Questions should be directed to the high school office.
