Cornwell and Hanley are regional FFA finalists; Hanley to head to state competition

Kyle & Marilyn

Marilyn Hanley of Middleburgh H.S. and Kyle Cornwell of Schoharie H.S., senior members and chapter officers of the Schoharie Valley FFA, finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in a regional Extemporaneous Speaking competition on March 18. Hanley now goes on to state-level competition.

"Marilyn and Kyle competed in the Eastern Regional State FFA contest Saturday, attended by 18 FFA chapters from the Canadian border to Long Island," FFA Advisor Dave Marbot said. They had individually qualified for this level of Extemporaneous Speaking competition two weeks earlier.

"Kyle and Marilyn were in the same flight of contestants where only the top two finishers are chosen for the finals, and both Kyle and Marilyn made the finals for a second chance to make the state's final six," Marbot added."

In the end, Marilyn finished 2nd overall and Kyle 3rd. Both students received plaques for their outstanding effort.
