Just Runners receive special Freihofer's treat

Just Run

Schoharie Elementary 3rd through 6th grade students participating in the Just Run program received a special treat in the days leading up to the Freihofer's Run For Women, but it wasn't chocolate chip cookies.

Carmen Troncoso, a professional runner competing in the June 3 race in Albany, met with the students at their school on June 1. She talked about running and sportsmanship at a special Just Run assembly and engaged the students in a Q and A session.

Troncoso then joined Schoharie's Just Runners in running a lap on campus on the beautiful, sunny afternoon. She loved the Schoharie elementary hat presented to her as well as the students' Just Run Across America bulletin board.

Just Run is a youth fitness program offered after school to students in grades 3-6. Just Run focuses on exercise, the sport of running and making positive choices, such as good citizenship and healthy eating. Schoharie is one of a number of schools throughout the region to participate.
