SCS Performing Arts presents Cinderella March 9-11

Schoharie Central School Performing Arts will present the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Cinderella on March 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and March 11 at 2 p.m. in the Schoharie High School auditorium.

Tickets cost $8 for adults and $7 for students and may be purchased beginning Feb. 26 during the school day or by calling Pam Guest at (518) 295-6635.

Cast members include: Christina Kelly (Cinderella), Christopher Snyder (Prince Topher), Alex DiNuzzo (Marie), Claire Williams (Madame), Emily Stevens (Charlotte), Hannah Meyer (Gabrielle), Jackson VanDerwerken (Jean-Michel), Harry Bond (Sebastian), Ethan VanDerwerken (Lord Pinkleton), Mackenzie Barton, William Bond, Mikayla Faas, Jamie Fox, Allie Gallagher, Jacqui Gerstenberger, Jaydan Guasp, Olivia Helmstadt, Madeline Phelan, Jillian Rehberg, Cami Robinson-Parisi, Braden Rose, Landen Scofield, Alania Sholtes, Griffin Sholtes, Anna Starks, Lorelei Van Wie-Adair, Grace Vogel and Margot Williams.

Schoharie's production is directed by Cassandra Olin and Kimberly DiNuzzo with music direction by Daniel White, choreography by DiNuzzo, assisted by student choreographers, costume direction by Jill Sholtes, and production assistance by Pam Guest.

The production is based on the version of Cinderella that premiered on Broadway in 2013, re-conceived by Douglas Carter Beane. The version turns to the early French version of the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, where the classic fairy tale has a much richer story line.

Cinderella has multiple encounters with the prince, one of the stepsisters was friendly toward Cinderella and the sister had a boyfriend too. Cinderella also helps the Prince see the injustices in the court.

The production features songs from the original 1957 televised musical such as "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible," "Ten Minutes Ago," and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful," along with rediscovered songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein cut from other shows.
