Schoharie students head to SkillsUSA states

A team of SCS students brought home awards from the March 14 SkillsUSA regional competition for career and technical education (CTE) students, and four will represent their school at the statewide SkillsUSA event in Syracuse April 25-27.

Schoharie High School junior Alex Cipperly won 2nd place in the regional SkillsUSA precision heavy equipment competition, which was held at Schenectady County  Community College. He studies Residential Construction/Heavy Equipment at the Schoharie CTE School.

Schoharie senior Devon Ilowiecki won 2nd place in the crime scene investigation team competition. He studies Criminal Justice at Schoharie CTE.

Schoharie junior Keith Diamond brought home a 3rd place award in action skills. He studies Diesel Technology at the Albany CTE campus.

Schoharie junior Robert Dorrough brought home a 3rd place award from the carpentry competition. He studies Residential Construction/Heavy Equipment at Schoharie CTE.

Devon, Keith and Robert will compete at the statewide SkillsUSA event, along with Jon Morrell, a Schoharie senior and CTE Criminal Justice student. The state SkillsUSA event does not offer a heavy equipment competition.

SkillsUSA is a national organization for CTE students that promotes leadership, education, and personal and professional growth through local, regional, state and national activities and competitions.

Keith Diamond

Keith Diamond studies Diesel Technology at CTE.
