Schoharie Elementary School hosted players from the Siena Saints men’s and women’s basketball teams on Jan. 8, building on both a positive relationship with the college’s athletics department and children’s skills on the court, and beyond.
The players ran skill drills with the students, signed autographs and huddled up for a Siena Saints cheer. The visit fit into Schoharie Elementary’s focus on teamwork, a positive learning environment, community spirit and a growth mindset, and the school’s participation in No Place for Hate.
Visiting from Siena’s women’s team were Assistant Coach Jessica Simmonds and players Maddie Sims, Karolina Severova and Deja Rawls. Visiting from the men’s team were players Manny Camper, Christian Bentley and Thomas Huerter Jr. Siena Director of Basketball Relations Pete Durr also hit the basketball court with the students.
A great time was had by all, and the school was happy to welcome Siena athletes back to Schoharie. In December, Siena lacrosse players and coaches visited the elementary school as part of the No Place for Hate program.
