Schoharie High School students Olivia Helmstadt, Abigail Uveges, Ethan VanDerwerken and Grace Vogel have been selected to sing with the Melodies of Christmas Youth Chorale that will perform in December at Proctors, Schenectady.
The four successfully auditioned for the choir, a highly competitive process for a group with only 70 students from throughout the entire Capital Region. They will rehearse weekly until their performances at Proctors Theatre on Dec. 13-15 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 3 p.m.
“Melodies of Christmas is a fundraiser for Albany Medical Center’s Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders,” said Schoharie music teacher Carrie Styles. “I’m very proud of these students, and I’m happy that they will be representing SCS so well.”
Since its beginning in 1979, Melodies of Christmas has raised more than $6.5 million to benefit the Melodies Center.
