SCS fifth graders enjoyed a great day of learning at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown on June 14. The students have been reading about Jackie Robinson and extended that learning at the museum. They broke up into groups and completed lessons on civil rights, women’s history, geography, communication arts and character education.
The lessons used baseball as the springboard and included The All American Girls Professional Baseball League, The Negro League teams, Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig and the history of team locations. “It was a great day of learning and a fun way to end the year,” noted teacher Mary Bates.
