Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Friday, May 1, that all schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Home learning and school feeding programs will continue through June in accordance with the normal school calendar.
Schools had most recently been closed through May 15. More guidance from the state on summer school options is expected by the end of May. The spring athletics season is also now cancelled.
Schoharie CSD administrators, faculty and staff have been preparing for this possibility for several weeks, but that doesn’t make today’s announcement any less disappointing. We understand this is a very difficult time for everyone. We are grateful for the patience of our families and the hard work of our faculty and staff.
There will be more information forthcoming on plans for graduation, but for now, we are asking students at all grade levels and their families to continue working with teachers to close out the school year with as strong an academic effort as possible.
We will continue to proceed with home learning in accordance with the guidelines our principals and teachers have previously communicated.
Should our students and their families need anything, please contact their principal, their child’s teacher or our school counselors. The high school office will continue to be open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
