Dear Schoharie Families,
By now you are all aware that we will complete our school year through virtual learning. Although this decision makes all of us sad, we have proven that we can adapt, and we will remain #SchoharieStrong. Since March, you partnered with us to show your children the value of education, and we look forward to continuing this work together. Our debt to you is tremendous, and our gratitude is deep.
We will continue to follow the same virtual learning plan everyone has gotten used to for the remainder of the school year. In addition to that, the end of the year is full of many celebrations and traditions we will do our best to uphold. Please look for communications from us in the upcoming days and weeks regarding our pre-k, kindergarten, and sixth grade graduations, along with awards assemblies. At this time, we expect these events will all have to be held virtually to adhere to the Governor’s orders. Additionally, teachers are brainstorming virtual field trips in ways the class can “attend” together. We hope to have your support in getting your child into their google classroom, not only because this is the best way the teachers can educate them for now, but also because it will allow us to bring the children together to make memories we’ve never had the chance to create before.
Now that we know we cannot return to the building this year, many of you have reached out asking to get belongings of your children. Due to the constraints of virtual learning and social distancing, please follow the guidance outlined below:
*Please return all library books to the High School Main Office Monday-Friday, between the hours of 10-2.
*Your child’s teacher will contact you to arrange a date and time for a safe pick up of your child’s personal belongings from the classroom, should you wish to get them. This will include the pick up of your Spring Pictures. The time to do this will be scheduled in advance in order to maintain the safety of everyone. Teachers will not have much flexibility in the time they are offering you, as we have to limit the number of people in the building at one time. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
*Although the building is closed, learning has not stopped. We will arrange a method for you to return technology when the school year is over.
Please do not hesitate to call the school at 518-295-6651 or email me directly at apolikoski@schoharieschools.
It’s been so heartwarming to see the creative ways your children have thanked the educators in their lives this week. The uplifting stories and activities keep us all going. With that in mind, please share the “Message to SES Families” video below with your children. We miss them greatly!
Sincerely,
Andrea Polikoski
