The following message is from Dr. Kevin Calacone, principal of Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School:
Good afternoon families,
Thank you for your patience as we have sifted through the ever-changing mandated requirements around graduation ceremonies. On Sunday, June 7, the Governor announced that in-person, socially distanced, outside graduation ceremonies, limited to 150 people or fewer, would be allowed starting on Friday, June 26. After reviewing our student survey data, our current plan for graduation is as follows:
We will have two, in-person, socially distanced, outside graduation ceremonies (limited to 150 people or fewer) on Saturday, June 27, 2020 under a tent on the soccer field. The first ceremony (for students with last names A-L) will take place at 10 a.m. The second ceremony (for students with last names M-Y) will take place at 12 p.m. Graduates will be allows to bring up to three guests each. These measures will keep us under the 150-person threshold.
Everyone in attendance (graduates and guests) must wear a mask or face covering and follow all social distancing requirements while on school grounds. The tent will allow our events to take place rain or shine. As the Governor also indicated, any change in public health status may impact this plan.
Also, our annual Awards & Scholarship Night will be held virtually on Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m. More information will be sent out to families this week.
We will be in communication if any part of the above plan should need to change. Until then, I look forward to seeing you on Graduation Day, Saturday, June 27.
Sincerely,
Dr. Calacone
