March is Youth Art Month, and Schoharie’s students are exhibiting their work in the windows of businesses on Main Street in the village.
According to SCS art teacher Jean Scofield, “This exhibit showcases the creative spirit of our K-12 students in a variety of media. Youth Art Month encourages young people to participate in activities that inspire creativity and engagement in the visual arts.
“Activities during Youth Art Month can be very simple,” she added. “Perhaps you and your family can go to an art museum, or take out a book from the library on art or a specific artist.
“Push your ideas of what art and art materials are by using a variety of media. For instance, recycled materials, wood, found objects and cloth can inspire creativity.
Remember the arts provides students with valuable learning experiences that increase problem solving, divergent thinking, self confidence and creativity.
“So let’s support arts education in every school.”
