Star
STAR is New York State’s School Tax Relief Program that provides a partial property tax exemption from the school taxes to eligible homeowners.

Budget Voting information
On the third Tuesday of each May, residents from across New York State go to the polls to vote on the following year’s school district budget and to elect members of the Board of Education. In early May, Schoharie CSD residents can expect to receive in the mail a copy of the district newsletter which will highlight the budget residents will be voting on. Information will also be posted on this website.
This year, the school district’s budget vote is on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Polling Locations
Where do I Vote?
Voting is held from noon to 8 p.m. in the gym of the Junior-Senior High School, 136 Academy Drive, Schoharie.
Where do I Park to Vote?
Voter parking is provided at the Schoharie Junior-Senior High School near the polls. The parking area and school entrances are accessible for people with physical disabilities. For assistance, please call the Schoharie Central School District office at (518) 295-6679.
Absentee Balloting
Eligible district residents who are unable to go to the polls on voting day can cast their votes by absentee ballot.
For a 2025 absentee balloting application, call the Schoharie Central School District office at (518) 295-6679 or visit the office at 136 Academy Drive in Schoharie.
Completed applications must be received by the district clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally. All completed absentee ballots must be received by the district clerk no later than 5 p.m. on voting day.
Voter Eligibility
To qualify to register to vote with the Schoharie Central School District, you must meet all of the conditions listed below:
- You are a citizen of the United States
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You are a resident of the district for at least thirty (30) days prior to the vote date
- You are not a convicted felon
- You are not in jail or on parole for a felony conviction
- You are not adjudged by a court to be mentally incompetent
