Esperance Elks Lodge #2507 recently presented Schoharie Central School District with donations totaling $2,500 to support the Backpack Program, which provides healthy weekend meals to students in need.
The Elks presented Schoharie Superintendent David M. Blanchard with a $2,000 check that their lodge received via a Gratitude Grant, along with an additional $500 check from the lodge’s Charitable Giving Fund, at the January 17 SCS Board of Education meeting.
“Our district is thankful for the Esperance Elks’ generosity and support of the Backpack Program,” Blanchard said. “Children need to be healthy to learn, and they shouldn’t have to worry about meals when they are not at school. We are most appreciative of our caring community partners.”
