On Friday, Oct. 25, SCS HS choir and treble choir students participated in this year’s SUNY SCCC High School Choral festival. Students performed three pieces for the renowned choral conductor Dr. Pearl Shangkuan. Dr. Shangkuan is a highly sought-after conductor, clicincian and lecturer. She’s the Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After our two choirs sang their selections Dr. Shangkuan worked with the group, having them try different techniques to enhance their performances.
Schoharie was among several districts to participate in this event including choirs from Saratoga, North Colonie, Shenendehowa, Schalmont, Greenwich and more.
