For students interested in human biology, being near a medical college provides excellent advantages. SCS anatomy & physiology students were able to learn hands-on about the brain through a lab and lecture in Albany.
Seniors Lily Caza, Katie Touchette, Abby Wetsel and Claire Williams visited
Albany Medical College on May 2, where they toured the pathology research laboratory and participated in a lecture and lab featuring human brains.
The field trip capped lessons learned in the anatomy & physiology classroom by students from Schoharie and other high schools in the region. In December, students focused on the human heart during a field trip to the medical college.
Anatomy & physiology is offered to Schoharie students through the use of distance learning technology. Distance learning allows students from numerous schools to take part in classes held in a singular location by providing live audiovisual links, real-time interaction and shared instruction.
Schoharie students benefit both from classes hosted by their school and those hosted elsewhere.
