Schoharie CSD is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff as we work to reopen our school district from the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been an unprecedented time for our world, creating many significant hurdles for our community. Schoharie CSD has established a Reopening Task Force with members of the SCS staff, parents, and administration, who have been and will continue to meet to discuss the best practices for reopening, research the current government regulations, and to develop considerations/questions to be answered as we approach the fall/new school year.
As the task force moves forward with their work, the district will provide regular updates to ensure staff, families, and the community are prepared for what the upcoming school year may look like. The main goals of this task force are to minimize risks to public health, address the impacts on student learning and well-being, and seek to optimize operational readiness.
As we prepare for reopening the school district, we must remain flexible in our plan as guidance from local, state, and federal governments, as well as coordination with other regional districts will have direct influence on our plan. It is possible that our district will participate in any combination of: in-person learning in the classrooms; virtual learning at home; or some hybrid combination of each that will encompass varied learning styles during the next year.
No decisions about how school will reopen in the fall have been made and at the moment, there are no changes to the current 2020-21 school calendar. Communication regarding the reopening plan will be continued throughout the summer on the Schoharie Central School District website and through our School Messenger system.
Thank you for your support,
The Schoharie CSD Reopening Task Force Team
