On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Shane Helmstadt, a senior at Schoharie High School was officially signed as a Sea Wolf at Stony Brook University, making him the first male D-1 scholarship recipient from the district in 40 years.
Shane has been playing baseball since he was small, starting with Little League and moving his way up through School baseball and travel teams.
Shane was accompanied at the signing, held in front of the Schoharie high school gym, by his family and Schoharie High School Athletic Department staff.
We would like to congratulate Shane, who is very excited about this new chapter in his baseball and academic career.
