Members of the cast, crew and pit orchestra from Schoharie’s production of “Cinderella” have been nominated for High School Musical Theatre Awards, which will be presented at Proctors on May 19 at 7 p.m.
“We had stiff competition against 22 other Capital Region high schools, large and small, and are very excited by our nominations,” said SCS music teacher Cassandra Olin.
“Congratulations to Jackson VanDerwerken for his nomination as Best Supporting Actor for his character of Jean-Michael and to the whole cast and crew for their nomination for Best Set Construction.
“We had a great team of student painters this year who created everything from the stairs, the clock, the horse and carriage, etc. The majority of the cast members also assisted in set construction and painting. It is truly a team effort and a team nomination.”
At the Musical Theatre Awards event, SCS students will join with those from other schools to find out who wins the top award in their category.
Presented this past March, Schoharie’s production of “Cinderella” was directed by Cassandra Olin and Kimberly DiNuzzo with music direction by Daniel White, choreography by DiNuzzo, assisted by student choreographers, costume direction by Jill Sholtes, and production assistance by Pam Guest.
